"These photo's were all taken within a mile of my home. I wasn't hunting, although I do, but was out taking photos of deer. This country is in Oregon's high desert, 90mi NE of Bend and about the same from The Dalles, on the Columbia River. Usually real nice weather here. Today it's already about 50 degree's out (Feb 3, 2005). We've also got elk, antelope, a few sheep, some wild boars, lots of coyotes, other assorted varmits and game birds. From here it's 15 miles to the John Day River which has bass and steelhead. ODF claim's there's 5000 fish per mile in it. I don't think so. but then they spend less time there than I do, so what would I know!

Very arid country. Not too far from Lake Billy Chinook outside Madras, Ore. Huge impoundment created when they dammed up the Dechutes, Metolious and Crooked Rivers. South of Bend are the high lakes, predominantly trout fishing, but they are beautiful. In fact, too much so, they get very crowded, at times.

Here in Antelope, where I live, crowds are not much problem, pop. give or take 25 ! "
